Defending the Weak — What Scripture Says When the System Fails
Psalm 82:3 — "Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed."
Not defend them when it's politically convenient. Not defend them when it doesn't disrupt the system. Defend them.
Proverbs 31:8 — "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute."
We have to ask ourselves: if we claim to follow Jesus, can we be silent when voting rights are being dismantled? Can we scroll past it? Can we pretend it's just politics and not our problem?
Isaiah 1:17 — "Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow."
Take up the cause. That means action. That means speaking. That means not pretending you don't see it happening.
The court made their decision on April 29th. They decided that racism is handled and Black voters don't need protection anymore. Scripture has a very different opinion about what we owe each other.
